HSP and Harran, Mersin and TOBB Universities Support Academics in teaching Syrian Students in Higher Education in Turkey

In November 2019 , HSP and Harran University hosted a pre-conference workshop at the International Federation of Social Science Organizations annual meeting, titled “Global Health and Migration” in Sanliurfa, Turkey.    More than 50 academics, clinicians,  government representatives, researchers and students discussed migration and the effect on the health and academic engagement of foreign displaced students, particularly, from Syria. As a follow up, Mersin and TOBB University hosted a select group of more than 20 academicians in Ankara to share best practices for STEM student engagement/re-engagement, scientific practice integration, gender balance and long term policy solutions. Both events will result in recommendation for local policy integration to the respective academic institutions and to the Directorate General of Migration and Council of Higher Education (YÖK).
