Samreen Sarwar, HSP’s technical advisor, becomes the second person in Pakistan to earn all five professional certifications offered by the International Federation of Biosafety Associations (IFBA)!

Samreen now holds IFBA professional certifications in biorisk management, biological waste management, biosafety cabinet selection, installation and safe use and biosecurity, and biocontainment facility design, operations and maintenance. She is now one of two profesionals in Pakistan to complete all five certifications. Additionally, as an IFBA Global Mentor Samreen uses her experience and expertise to help other scientists prepare for the exams and to hold monthly discussions with mentees on topics in biosafety. Achieving these IFBA professional certification demonstrates excellence, professionalism, and continuous learning in the fields of biosafety, biosecurity, and biorisk management.

Samreen is a graduate of the Pakistan Biological Safety Association (PBSA) Master Trainers program and holds an M. Phil in Molecular Biology from the University of Punjab, Lahore. Over the past five years Samreen has worked with HSP to support local educational programming around biosafety in Pakistan and other countries in the region.
