From Indonesia To Washington, DC: The 2015 Stewards Fellowship Launch
Last week, we brought together a cohort of Indonesian university faculty to Georgetown University for a weeklong training for the 2015 Health Security Stewards Fellowship.
During the first two days, they sat in as students to a condensed course on global health security, which is taught at Georgetown, Cornell, and the George Washington Universities. Guest lecturers included experts from these universities as well as from U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) and U.S. Department of Health & Human Services (HHS).
During the latter part of the week, they took part in an intensive workshop on curriculum development, which equipped them with the tools to develop a locally relevant course on global health security. Before heading home to Indonesia, they met with officials from the White House and U.S. Department of State to discuss challenges and opportunities regarding global health security policies.
Throughout the year, HSP will provide Fellows support in developing and disseminating global health security curriculum to post-graduate university students across Indonesia.
