HSP and FETP Indonesia Host First Consultative Meeting
On May 4th , 2021, HSP and FETP-Indonesia hosted the first in a series of virtual consultative meetings to share experience, lessons learned and best practices among field epidemiology training programs (FETPs) in Asia. The meeting started with opening remarks from Dr. William Hawley, Director of USCDC-Indonesia and Dr. Prima Yosephine, Indonesian FETP Coordinator and Director of Surveillance & Health Quarantine, Indonesian Ministry of Health. Dr. Dr. Agnes Segarra, Director of the Philippine FETP, was the keynote speaker. She provided an overview of how the Philippines FETP is organized and run out of the Department of Health and the critical role that FETP alumni play in program implementation. Following the keynote presentation, the Indonesian FETP stakeholders participated in a robust discussion on key lessons learned from the Philippines experience and how it could be applied to enhance FETP in Indonesia. More consultative meetings are planned on a monthly basis with other FETP leaders from across the region. This HSP activity is supported by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control.
