HSP and NCAH Successfully Hold Safe and Secure Sample Collection and Transport Workshop in Libya

From March 28 - 31, HSP and Libya’s National Centre for Animal Health (NCAH) conducted a successful four-day virtual workshop on safe and secure specimen collection and transport. Participants from across Libya attended the virtual training to further their knowledge of sample collection as well as packaging and transportation, and will return to their home institutions with the knowledge and ability to implement best practices for safe and secure handling. During the virtual sessions, participants benefited from lectures presented by local subject matter experts on a variety of important topics. These topics included biosafety/biosecurity measures that should be taken during sample collection, the purpose and requirements of sample storage, Category A and B pathogens and their packaging and labeling requirements, sampling requirements for common diseases seen across Libya, and the importance of maintaining chain of custody, to name a few. HSP is looking forward to collaborating with the NCAH for workshops in the future, after a successful and important virtual training.
