Introducing HSP's Newest Team Member, Trish Westenbroek!

HSP welcomes Trish Westenbroek to the team as Senior Program Specialist, where she will execute a range of global health security programs. She comes to us with over 15 years of experience managing animal health and agricultural development projects and programs for the public, private, and academic sectors.

After completing her M.Sc. in Agricultural Development from the University of Aberdeen, UK, she supported a wide-range of agricultural development activities in the university extension system in Maine and New York. At Cornell Cooperative Extension, she operated as a pathogen control specialist for the New York City Watershed Agricultural Program focusing on prevention and mitigation of waterborne pathogens. As an outreach specialist, she consulted with over 500 farms to address animal health, production, and environmental issues over the span of her career. She went on to become an Agricultural Advisor in the Western Region of Afghanistan for the U.S. Department of Agriculture and as the Afghanistan Program Coordinator at the U.S. Embassy Kabul for biosecurity programming.

Most recently, Trish has been working in the non-profit sector administering a $35 million cooperative agreement for the U.S. Department of Agriculture in international programs that includes study tours, research and scientific exchanges.

Trish brings tremendous depth of knowledge to HSP on one-health security issues, contributing to a growing portfolio and fostering a collaborative and innovative approach to reducing zoonotic health threats globally.
