OHZDP Workshop
Last week, HSP supported a workshop jointly hosted by the U.S. CDC One Health office and CDC Cambodia in their implementation of a One Health Zoonotic Disease Prioritization (OHZDP) Workshop. Members from the Ministries of Health, Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, Environment, and Higher Education gathered for a three-day workshop in Preah Sihanouk Province to develop a prioritized zoonotic disease list. They were joined by advisors from FAO, WHO, IPC, GIZ, WCS, and WOAH whose members provided valuable insight into their organizations’ experiences combating zoonoses. A One Health method for zoonoses prioritization is necessary because no one sector can address all health issues alone. Successful interventions require coordination and collaboration across multiple partners to successfully develop action plans, implement prevention and mitigation strategies, and advance global health security.
