HSP and the Brazilian Society for Biosafety and Biosecurity (SB3) Held a Virtual Cyberbiosecurity Workshop for More Than 50 Participants From Life Sciences institutions across Brazil

On August 24-25, HSP and the Brazilian Society for Biosafety and Biosecurity (SB3), held a virtual cyberbiosecurity workshop for more than 50 participants from life sciences institutions across Brazil. Speakers from both the United States and Brazil joined to discuss cyberbiosecurity and best practices, cybersecurity risks to life sciences institutions, and mitigation measures to protect institutional data. Participants were very enthusiastic and responsive to the speakers throughout the event. The event ended with a scenario-based exercise to help participants prepare for a potential cyberattack on their facility. This event will be followed by an in-person Train-the-Trainers workshop, focused on cyber-hygiene best practices for biomedical institutions in December 2022. HSP is grateful to the US Department of State’s Biosecurity Engagement Program for funding and supporting this effort, as well as to SB3 for their partnership and hard work to co-implement this event.
