HSP and Yemeni Partners Begin University Laboratory Chemical Security Fellowship
In a continuing collaboration with our university-based partners in Yemen, HSP has begun its virtual Laboratory Chemical Security Fellowship. Our partners at the University of Ibb and Sana’a University will host over 40 new university faculty as fellows, representing 22 academic institutions, in a series of virtual chemical security workshops. Through interactive lectures with HSP’s local and regional SMEs, this fellowship will provide instruction on chemical safety and security standard operating procedures. Additionally, participants will be given the tools to develop laboratory decommissioning plans and exercises to assess chemical vulnerabilities in Yemen. With mentoring and follow-on support provided by HSP and its Yemeni partners, the fellows will be charged with developing plans for the rapid decommissioning of chemical labs and labs with chemical resources in Yemen using the knowledge and skills learned during the fellowship program.
The University of Ibb will host the first cohort of 24 fellows beginning March 28, 2022.
