HSP Supports Indonesia MOH in Fighting Polio Outbreak
On 28 November 2022, Indonesia’s Ministry of Health (MOH) announced confirmed cases of circulating vaccine-derived poliovirus type 2 (cVDPV2) with acute flaccid paralysis (AFP) in Aceh province (https://www.who.int/emergencies/disease-outbreak-news/item/2022-DON430). The MOH immediately launched immunization campaigns and field investigations calling on local and national public health authorities to address the outbreak. These risk assessments and field investigations to conduct enhanced surveillance are still ongoing. Health Security Partners is supporting the deployment of five Field Epidemiology Training Program (FETP) residents to support the MOH in their rapid public health response.
