International Collaboration during the Pandemic: Lessons Learned and Ways Forward for Building Pandemic Resilience from a Biosafety and Biosecurity Perspective
HSP with funding support from the State Department Bureau of International Security and Nonproliferation, Biosecurity Engagement Program (BEP) hosted a two-day regional capstone meeting, "International Collaboration during the Pandemic: Lessons Learned and Ways Forward for Building Pandemic Resilience from a Biosafety and Biosecurity Perspective" in Singapore on 5-6 December 2024. This capstone meeting marked the culmination of a series of engagements in 2023-2024, bringing together participants who previously attended their respective national consultative meetings, including representatives from relevant government agencies, universities, biomedical research institutions and private industry involved with the COVID-19 pandemic response and associated research and development (R&D) effort in Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore and Vietnam. During the meeting, attendees had the opportunity to participate in a regional dialogue surrounding themes in international collaboration during the pandemic response, lessons learned for bolstering biosecurity for international collaboration in the post-pandemic research landscape, and ways forward for building regional capacity for pandemic resilience. HSP extends its gratitude to BEP and all the participants for their contributions in making this program a success.
