HSP and ROMCHIMICA Convene Workshop to Enhance Chemical Risk Management

Health Security Partners (HSP) and ROMCHIMICA cohosted a two-day workshop on Developing a Strategic Roadmap for Risk Management of Hazardous and Dual-Use Chemicals in Romania from May 20-21, 2026, in Bucharest, Romania. This training was sponsored by the U.S. Department of State’s Office of Cooperative Threat Reduction.  Twenty-six participants from Romanian chemical industry and Romanian authorities, along with two representatives from Bulgarian chemical industry, attended the workshop. Through presentations from international and regional subject matter experts, facilitated discussions, and a scenario-based tabletop exercise, participants explored current chemical incident prevention protocols, identified challenges and gaps in chemical management, and discussed next steps for strengthening chemical incident preparedness.
