Advanced Biosafety Training Equips TNI Laboratory Professionals in Sumatra
Experts from HSP, Intreped Partners and Jacobs, served as the training team for the TNI Advanced Biosafety & Biosecurity and Biorisk Management Training Workshops, held from 18-22 May 2026, in Medan, Indonesia. This training for 16 clinical laboratory professionals from TNI hospitals in Sumatra was hosted at the Putri Hijau Army Hospital. Funded by the U.S. Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA), this is part of a multi-year engagement with the Indonesian Ministry of Defense that has now built two cohorts of laboratory professionals, in Java and Sumatra respectively, to implement best practices for biosafety, biosecurity and biorisk management at military hospitals across Indonesia. This advanced training featured co-trainers from the previously trained Jawa cohort and it is now anticipated that select members of the Sumatra cohort will serve as co-trainers for the next cohort engaged by the DTRA-TNI collaboration in Indonesia.
