IFBA Biorisk Management and Biosecurity Exam Preparatory Courses Hosted by HSP in Collaboration With PBSA
The third month of the IFBA Biorisk Management (BRM) and Biosecurity Certification Exam Preparatory courses offered by Health Security Partners in collaboration with the Pakistan Biological Safety Association (PBSA) is now underway. The first cohort of 34 laboratory professionals, scientists, faculty members, and students are doing final preparation for the Biosecurity Exam and have nearly completed the ten-week-long preparatory course. A second Biosecurity Exam cohort will conclude within the month. Four cohorts of a total of 133 people will benefit from HSP's IFBA BRM exam preparatory course. Two of these four cohorts (each of 30-35 participants) are currently registering for the IFBA BRM exam, and the remaining two groups will register for the exam next month upon conclusion of their courses.
HSP's BRM and Biosecurity IFBA Exam preparatory courses consist of weekly webinars, reading assignments and practice tests. Once completing the course, participants provide feedback to HSP so that courses can be improved. One of the participants mentioned, “The learning cycle adopted for the preparation is good for the achieving of the exam goal. It must be carried out in the future, too.”By completing these courses and passing the IFBA certification exams, participants will feel more confident carrying out their biorisk management responsibilities at their institutions, gain professional recognition for their expertise, and be better prepared to positively influence laboratory workforce practices and attitudes toward biorisk management. Courses are led by local and international biosecurity and BRM experts, including HSP's own Technical Advisor Samreen Sarwar, Pakistan's only recipient of all five IFBA Certifications. HSP and PBSA look forward to witnessing course participants earn IFBA BRM and Biosecurity certification in the coming months.
