Workshop on Developing a National System for Laboratory Biosecurity in Istanbul
Health Security Partners (HSP), in collaboration with the U.S. State Department's Biosecurity Engagement Program (BEP) and Marmara University, hosted a 3-day workshop on Developing a National System for Laboratory Biosecurity from 22-24 May 2024 in Istanbul, Türkiye. The workshop brought together 22 stakeholders from academia and various ministries across Türkiye. During the workshop, national and international subject matter experts discussed the progress of the development of the security sensitive agent list for Türkiye and began developing a draft biosecurity regulatory framework to accompany the security sensitive agent list. Throughout the workshop, participants also discussed challenges and solutions for implementation and identified practical next steps.
